Dr. Amy Cousins and Staff

Dr. Cousins' Credentials 

Dr. Amy Cousins is a licensed physician in New York and Pennsylvania. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed two residencies, one in surgery and one in obstetrics/gynecology. She was the chief resident at Mt. Sinai Hospital earlier in her career. Dr. Cousins’ practice received high marks from its inspection in 2003 by the National Abortion Federation (NAF) which sets standards for abortion services. She received the Blair award from Family Planning Advocates in 2009.

Access for Women

Access for Women is an employee owned company which manages the practice for Dr. Cousins. Access for Women is also a member of the the Abortion Care Network (ACN), a group that represents independent abortion care providers. Our director, Peg Johnston, is  past chair of ACN, whose goal is to eliminate the stigma surrounding abortion. She is the creator of the Pregnancy Options Workbook, the Emotional and Spiritual Resolution Guide and Abortion: Which Method is Right for Me? She has worked on the Mom Dad I'm Pregnant project which helps promote healthy communication between teenagers and their parents, and is the primary author of Healthy Coping After an Abortion, Especially for Men, Mom, Dad I'm Pregnant handouts and other resources for patients and family. We take an active role in the Facebook Cause Enough! Basta! Stop Sidewalk Bullying at Women's Clinics.  We are  also a member of Family Planning Advocates in Albany, NY.

Affiliations and Friends

We encourage you to get involved with efforts to ensure access to good reproductive healthcare. We support the work of many pro-choice organizations with our Access Fund. We also provide assistance to patients from this fund, including trasportation assistance for our patients. All donations to the fund are appreciated and put to good use.
