Dollar Store Pregnancy Tests OK
Research shows that cheap pregnancy tests are effective and can be trusted.
A recent study of home pregnancy tests purchased at the pharmacy compared with tests purchased for $1 at Dollar Store type shops show that the cheap test is just as effective and in some cases, it is easier to read. Dr. Sunaina Sehwani at St. Lukes in Bethelehem PA compared 27 dollar tests with 27 QuickVue pregnancy tests, all were positive at 25 mIU/mL, or at the missed period. The study was reported at the annual meeting of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG).
According to Women's Access director Peg Johnston, "This is important because it gives everyone access accurate but inexpensive tests, and, in our experience, many women do more than one test." If a test is positive there is no need to repeat it, although often people don't believe the results so they do it again-- and sometimes again and again!
